Why We're Traveling in 2025

Why We’re Traveling in 2025

As the year approaches the halfway mark, we’re looking to find connection and care for the world around us. Here are five of the biggest reasons we are traveling in 2025 and beyond.

#1 — Conservation

Protecting what we love

International travel takes resources—so it’s only natural to ask: what makes it worth it? For us, it comes down to purpose. Why you go, how you engage, and how much you care all matter. We believe travel can be joyful, eye-opening, and deeply respectful all at once. That’s why we’re careful about who we work with and what we support—like the Boat Company’s efforts to protect Alaska’s Tongass National Forest, or Imvelo’s work with white rhinos in Zimbabwe. Every trip we offer is a chance to experience the world’s beauty—and to help preserve it, something that feels more important than ever this year.

#2 — The People We Love

Getting close in far-off places

As our families stretch across the globe, travel is something we do to stay close. Traveling together to new places or returning to ones we’ve shared helps us create a deeper connectedness with the people we love most. When we travel with loved ones, the memories become a part of who we are, etched into the very fabric of our relationships and ourselves.

#3 — Refreshing on History

Finding perspective in the past

It’s no secret that humanity hasn’t always taken the smoothest path. In moments that feel unprecedented or uncertain, looking to the past can remind us that we’ve made it through both dark and golden times—and have always found ways to learn, adapt, and grow. Exploring history up close helps us better understand how far we’ve come, what’s worth holding onto, and where we want to go.

#4 — Supporting Community

Expanding connection, not isolation

We believe travel can—and should—strengthen communities. We’re always grateful for the ways our journeys allow us to connect with and support communities in the places we visit. Whether it’s Hacienda Zuleta’s efforts to empower local farmers and artisans in the Ecuadorian Highlands, Napo Wildlife Center’s work to preserve and share Kichwa Añangu traditions in the Amazon rainforest, or The Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco preserving weaving traditions in Peru, we seek out partnerships that sustain the places and people we hold dear. When done right, travel is a powerful force for mutual respect, understanding, and care.

#5 — Letting Awe In

The life-changing effect of wonder

Sometimes, the most powerful reason to travel is also the simplest: to feel wonder. Whether it’s the hush of a Galápagos sunrise, the wild sweep of Patagonia, or the intricate tilework of an Ottoman palace, these moments awaken something in us. They reconnect us with beauty, curiosity, and joy. They expand our perspective and help us remember why the world is worth caring for.

As we travel this year, next year, and beyond, we do so with purpose—seeking connection, honoring the past, supporting communities, and protecting the places we love. These journeys shape us, expand our perspectives, and leave lasting impressions.

When we invite you to travel with us, we’re inviting you to be part of meaningful exploration and to experience firsthand the power of travel that connects us all. Together, we embark on adventures that are not only fun, but also as beneficial for the world as we can get.
