Updated Ecuador and Galapagos Entry Requirements

As of December 1, 2021, Ecuador implemented new requirements for entry to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Plan your travel and testing carefully! We will work with you for any testing that needs to take place within Ecuador for your Galapagos entry and for your return home.

To Enter Ecuador:

  • All travelers ages 16 and older wishing to enter Ecuador must present proof of complete course of COVID-19 vaccine completed at least 14 days prior to entry AND must present a negative test result from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours of the flight departure for Ecuador.

  • All travelers ages 2 to just under 16 years wishing to enter Ecuador must present a negative test result from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours of the flight departure for Ecuador.

To Enter the Galapagos:

  • All travelers ages 16 and older wishing to enter the Galapagos must present proof of complete course of COVID-19 vaccine completed at least 14 days prior to entry AND must present a negative test result from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours of the flight departure for the Galapagos.

  • All travelers ages 2 to just under 16 years wishing to enter the Galapagos must present a negative test result from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours of the flight departure for the Galapagos.

The only type of test authorized for entering the country is the RT-PCR test.

Any person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, and who after one month continues to obtain a positive RT-PCR test result, must present a medical certificate issued in the country of origin that supports their health status of not being in the contagious phase in order to enter Ecuador, as long as they have an absence of symptoms.
