Updated Ecuador and Galapagos Entry Requirements

Effective Friday, February 11, 2022, Ecuador has relaxed entry requirements for Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Covid tests will no longer be necessary for those who are fully vaccinated.

To Enter Ecuador:

  • All travelers ages 3 and older wishing to enter Ecuador must present a mandatory vaccination certificate with QR code or COVID-19 vaccination card showing the completion of full vaccination at least 14 days prior to entry OR present a negative test result from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken no earlier than 72 hours before your departure to Ecuador.

  • Any person who enters mainland Ecuador by international air must present the digital Travelers Health Declaration when boarding the flight to Ecuador. If the platform is not available, you must present a physical form. Travelers who complete and submit the digital form are no longer required to present a copy at the point of entry to the Ministry of Health.

To Enter the Galapagos:

  • All travelers ages 3 and older wishing to enter Ecuador must present a mandatory vaccination certificate with QR code or COVID-19 vaccination card showing the completion of full vaccination at least 14 days prior to entry OR present a negative test result from a COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken no earlier than 72 hours before your departure to Ecuador.

  • The Galapagos Transit Control Card, which will be provided by our associates.

Travelers entering Ecuador who were diagnosed as COVID-19 positive, and after one month continue to obtain a positive result from an RT-PCR test, may present a medical certificate from their country of origin attesting to their recovery, absence of symptoms, and that they are no longer contagious.

The only type of test authorized for entering the country is the RT-PCR test.

Any person who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, and who after one month continues to obtain a positive RT-PCR test result, must present a medical certificate issued in the country of origin that supports their health status of not being in the contagious phase in order to enter Ecuador, as long as they have an absence of symptoms.
