Join Galapagos Conservation Trust for the first ever Galapagos Day Webinar

On behalf of our friends at Galapagos Conservation Trust, we cordially invite you to the first ever Galapagos Day Webinar, Thursday, October 22nd.
1:00 pm EDT | 12:00 pm CDT | 11:00 am MDT | 10:00 am PDT

Galapagos Day Webinar

Join the panel of experts, hosted by Galapagos Conservation Trust President Monty Halls, to discuss what we are learning about the unique marine species in Galapagos, and what we can do about the threats that they face, including industrial fishing and plastic pollution.

The panel will include Yolanda Kakabadse, ex-Minister of Environment for Ecuador and former President of WWF International who is currently working on the Ecuadorian government’s new ‘ocean protection strategy’ for the Galapagos Islands. Joining her will be Jonathan Green, founder of the Galapagos Whale Shark Project (GWSP). The GWSP tagged Hope the whale shark who went missing in May in an area of intense industrial fishing, and Coco who made history as the first tagged whale shark to migrate along the Cocos-Galapagos swimway, an area that we are working to protect. We are also pleased to have Professor John Schofield, from the University of York, who through his work in contemporary archaeology is helping us to understand where Galapagos’ plastic pollution is coming from and how to eliminate it.

We would like as many people to attend this webinar as possible. Not only because it will be incredibly interesting, but also because we want the Ecuadorian government and our partners working on these threats to understand how many of us care about the importance of better protection for the amazing marine life found in the waters around the Galapagos Islands.

We really hope you will join us for this very special hour. If you are able to attend, you can register your place online here.
