Arrive in Quito, Ecuador

Fly from your home city to Quito, Ecuador where, upon arrival, you will be transferred to the Wyndham Quito Airport Hotel for your brief overnight stay.

For those affected by altitude, you have an option of flying to Guayaquil, in which chase you will be transfered to Hotel Oro Verde for your overnight stay.

To the Galapagos—Santa Cruz Island

In the morning, you'll fly to Baltra Island in Galapagos! You will be met and transferred over to Santa Cruz island and journey up into the highlands for lunch and a visit to see Giant Tortoises in the wild.

Your Conservation International Guide, Scott Henderson, has arranged two and half days of special events on Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz Island

Today you will join Scott Henderson and the local Conservation International Galapagos team for a visit with local fisherman to talk about current CI work and how it has affected their livelihood. The day will continue with a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station where you will see conservation  in action with endangered species recovery programs via a short hike down a raised walkway through beautiful natural park areas on the seaside. 

For certified SCUBA divers, there will be an optional half-day diving excursion (at additional cost) with the leading local dive operator, Scuba Iguana.
If you are interested in the diving trip, please inquire directly with Conservation International, so they can make arrangements.

In the evening the entire group will meet up again and go to Scott’s Lava Java organic coffee farm for drinks and snacks.

Exploring the Galapagos Islands

We live aboard our spacious yacht for a week, spending as much time ashore as the Park rules permit. We will live aboard the yacht and spend as much time exploring the islands with Linda Cayot and Richard Polatty as park rules permit. Every day will have some snorkeling and/or kayaking opportunities. Each night, we'll travel on to the next destination. We swim and snorkel with tropical fish, sea lions and sometimes with penguins!

Baltra Island to Quito on the Mainland

We'll have breakfast on board Integrity, then disembark at Baltra Island and fly back to Quito. You may elect to have a dayroom at Rincón de Puembo and fly home that evening, or transfer into Quito for a free afternoon and evening to explore the city. Enjoy your final overnight stay at Hotel Colon. Dinner is on your own tonight. You'll depart for home on the 12th day, or continue with your own adventures in Ecuador.
