In the Amazon Basin you will explore a complex and unique ecosystem while being treated to a luxurious stay at Napo Wildlife Center. Nestled among the rainforest’s dense vegetation, Napo Wildlife Center harbors a truly mind-boggling number of species, including over 1,450 species of birds – many that exist nowhere else in the world.
After your Galápagos Islands adventure, enjoy a relaxing day on your own to explore Quito’s capital city. Walk the Old Town, visit the artisanal market, or dine in one of Quito’s excellent restaurants.
You will then spend five days experiencing this diverse and fragile wonder-of-the-world, accompanied by highly-qualified English-speaking guides. You may choose to explore the jungle from the lodge’s miles of pristine hiking trails, a dugout canoe, a canopy walk situated high above the rainforest floor, or even from one of the lodge’s scenic balconies.
Days 1-2: Upon arrival from Galápagos, transfer to downtown Quito. Balance of the day is at your leisure. Next day, you have a full day to explore Quito area on your own or enjoy a pre-arranged private guided tour. Overnight at Hilton Colón Quito.
Days 3-6: Flight to Ecuador’s Upper Amazon Basin. Travel down the Rio Napo by canoe to Napo Wildlife Center. Spend the next four days taking in sights and sounds of the jungle.
Day 7: Return canoe trip up the Rio Napo for your flight back to Quito Airport where you connect to your homeward bound flight.

Hacienda Zuleta: 3-Day Extension
Add two nights at an enchanting historic, working hacienda
Hacienda Zuleta is a stunning property located on a 4,000 acre working farm. The hacienda is nestled in a breathtaking valley, and features 15 beautifully decorated rooms. Guests are treated to a relaxing atmosphere, lush gardens, and rich cultural experiences along with delicious home-cooked Ecuadorian cuisine. All meals are prepared with organic ingredients produced within the hacienda’s grounds.
During your stay, explore Zuleta’s extensive estate by taking part in a variety of activities including walks and hikes in the village and the forest. Stroll through the gardens, tour the hacienda’s dairy, peruse the handicraft shop, observe the daily happenings of the farm, or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful ambiance. For a more active stay, mountain biking, horseback riding, embroidery classes and cooking classes can be organized for additional fees.
The Hacienda is home to a variety wildlife, including the Andean condor and giant hummingbird. You may even catch a glimpse of a spectacled bear, South America’s only bear species. Be sure to make a visit to Condor Huasi Project, Hacienda Zuleta’s celebrated condor rehabilitation program.
Extension Itinerary (may also be added before Galápagos)
Day 1: Return to Quito from Galápagos Islands. Private transfer from the airport to Hacienda Zuleta for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Explore the miles of trails around Zuleta by horseback, mountain bike, or foot. Visit the women's community embroidery project and the Condor Huasi Project. Tour the working farm and learn about cheese making at the cheese factory, or fishing at the trout farm. Or relax by one of the fire places with a glass of wine. Overnight at Hacienda Zuleta.
Day 3: Spend the morning at Hacienda Zuleta. After lunch, visit Otavalo town en route to Quito airport for your flight home.

City Stay - 1-Night Extension
After staying a night in Quito, have a full day tour of Ecuador’s capital city surrounded by volcanoes. With a private guide and driver, choose from among several possibilities to suit your interests and the weather. Most common: a morning tour of Quito’s historic Old Town: visit La Campañia, Basillica, Museo del Alabado and Panecillo. Afternoon ride up the cable car to a spectacular panoramic view of Quito, then visit the museum installation of Ecuadorian artist Guayasamín. Or head to the Equatorial monument to straddle two hemispheres. Lunch is on your own to maximize Quito’s dining options.
