Alaska Eco Travel | The Wild North Yacht Cruise | Overview

Introduction

Watching humpback whales bubble-net feed and orcas breach, hiking through the Sitka spruce forest, spotting grizzlies (at a safe distance), kayaking in quiet bays, fly fishing in quick streams, cheering as glaciers calve, dining on fresh-caught shrimp: you will discover and delight in Southeast Alaska's remarkable beauty.

The Wild North is an 8-day adventure including a 7-day / 6-night cruise between Sitka and Juneau (or reverse) on two yachts for your choosing: the 157-foot, 24-passenger Mist Cove and the 145-foot, 20-passenger Liseron. These size vessels provide a more intimate setting, a higher degree of personal attention from the crew, and a greater freedom to go “off-itinerary” to create a truly memorable Alaskan cruise.

The yachts offer an enclosed fantail for dining, a comfortable salon with open bar, an observation lounge, and plenty of deck space for enjoying a warm beverage or snapping shots of the stunning surroundings. Each stateroom features private en-suite facilities with a queen-sized lower bed and twin upper bunk.

While on board, you'll rise to the cry of eagles, sample fine vintages and dine on exquisite meals prepared by the dedicated chefs. Naturalists illuminate both the natural history and human history of the region. The dedicated and adept crew (ratio of two guests per one crew member) will lead hikes, give fishing tips and keep an eagle eye out for your safety and comfort at all times.

Each cruise between Juneau and Sitka is unique. The boat captains and crew keep abreast of wildlife sightings to set course and select activities so as to make full advantage of the ever-changing bounty that is Southeast Alaska.
