Luxury Galapagos Cruise & Hacienda Zuleta | Overview

Introduction

Zuleta is a working hacienda in the verdant Avenue of Volcanoes northeast of Quito whose history goes back to the 16th century. Only in recent years open to visitors, the hacienda spans past and present from its storied history to its organic and permaculture practices.

Zuleta has belonged to the families of Mr. Galo Plaza Lasso, a former president of Ecuador, and his wife for more than 500 years. Staying at Hacienda Zuleta means staying with the welcoming Plaza family, excited to share with you the experience of life at an authentic colonial Ecuadorian hacienda.

The hacienda has 14 beautifully decorated bedrooms, all with their own fire place. Private gardens along with cosy living and reading rooms offer a peaceful atmosphere.

At Hacienda Zuleta you can take part in a variety of activities that span its 4,000 acres. Horseback riding for advanced and beginners alike, mountain biking, hiking, horse drawn carriage rides and strolls in the gardens are popular. You can also visit their Andean Condor rehabilitation program "Condor Huasi Project."
